Job Description

National CPA firm looking hire in several markets throughout the US. (Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, New York)

  • Prepare and review individual returns, partnership returns, corporate returns, fiduciary returns, gift tax returns, complex schedule K1 reporting for alternate investments
  • Manage time efficiently in order to meet appropriate charge hour goals and accurately describe work performed
  • Analyze prior year’s numbers and draw logical conclusions
  • Accurately prepare appropriate journal entries, tax accruals and tax returns
  • Recognize the importance of, and continually seek opportunities to, develop complete understanding of business practices
  • Interact with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients
  • Assume management of assignments, including exposure to Firm’s billing philosophy
  • Recognize when data is missing and exercise good judgment in obtaining it from the appropriate source
  • Maintain an understanding of current, complex Texas franchise tax laws
  • Ability to reconcile retained earnings (Maybe – Reconcile retained earnings when needed)
  • Analyze client general ledgers and suggest reclassifications and adjustments
  • Manage, mentor and develop others
  • Develop administrative, professional and interpersonal skills to better service clients
  • Expand technical skills in a variety of tax areas 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance or related discipline
  • 3+ years public accounting experience with an emphasis in taxation
  • Solid technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Experience supervising the work of others, including delegation, training and development
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Intermediate technical proficiency in tax software applications
  • Strong research, writing and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in delivery of quality client service
  • CPA certification preferred
