Job Description

Our New York-based sustainable fashion client is seeking a contract UX Designer This is a temporary position in the fast-paced Web Division of a high-end fashion company.

This designer is Candidates should have excellent communication and liaison skills, thoughtful conceptual ability, strong typographic skills, knowledge of new technologies, demonstrate great attention to detail, and have an enthusiasm for design and design culture.


 

Responsible for developing innovative design solutions and compelling, branded customer experiences which evolve the usability of our e-commerce site.

Working primarily on special projects and site enhancements, but may be pulled in to day-to-day operations on demand.

Duties will include building technical wireframes, conducting competitive analysis, assessing and designing navigation enhancements, recommending and prototyping site optimizations, making recommendations and conducting A/B and user testing.

Will communicate and coordinate with internal clients, graphic designers, copywriters, developers/programmers and outside vendors to ensure the success of the visual brand message and the technical and performance specifications to result in a customer-friendly user experience.

Will ensure all work, both creative and technical, is reviewed for accuracy before deployment.

Qualifications

Demonstrated creativity and expertise on best practices and evolving trends that optimize user experience.

Knowledge of website structure, functionality, and limitations.

Advanced level proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite with specific expertise in Photoshop. Plus a working knowledge of web technology capabilities specifically CSS3, HTML5, JavaScript, Action Script, XML. (Position does not include coding).

Highly developed problem-solving skills with the ability to see the big picture.

Ability to do rapid prototyping.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Must be a self-motivated, well-organized individual who pays close attention to detail and is able to effectively prioritize in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment.

Strong typography and layout skills with a discerning eye for photo editing, cropping, compositing and retouching.

Client liaison and experience leading others and/or projects is a plus.

Either a fashion background or interest in fashion is a plus.
